As is tradition, October is often spent waiting for , with various shops and other retail spaces showing off their best spooky decorations.

And it was suggested on This Morning that it might be worth setting up a Christmas tree in October and decorating it with Halloween insignia.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), viewers were keen to point out that such ideas might not be so successful during a nationwide cost of living crisis.

‘Halloween tree? For god’s sake! No,’ one user wrote, while another remarked that it was a step too far to recommend Halloween trees as well as Christmas ones.

‘What a waste of money! And we’re in a cost of living crisis, for god’s sake,’ another viewer said, again bringing up the difficulties faced by families.

Watching on at home, one person wondered: ‘Am I just an old grumpy b*****d or is the idea of a Halloween tree just complete f**kwittery at its finest?’

The incident with the Halloween trees came after Good Morning Britain host .

Since Phillip, 61, left the programme earlier this year, there has been intense speculation as to who would take his place in the host’s chair.

An ITV spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘Ben is a much loved and popular presenter on ITV but no such decisions have been made.’

However, it’s been reported that ITV bosses are happy with the chemistry Ben has with Holly Willoughby and were pleased with the pair going forward.

‘Ben is known throughout ITV as being very popular with the audiences of whatever shows he hosts,’ they told MailOnline.
