The possibility of taking over hosting has been dashed after she signed on for a US show.
Earlier this year the breakfast programme’s long-time host , 61, left the broadcaster after admitting to lying about an ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a much-younger colleague.
A few months later Holly Willoughby, 42, also quit the show, saying it was a ‘difficult goodbye’, but that she needed to put her family first.
Since then, , including , Steve Jones, Sarah Ferguson, and last month, Cat, 47.
alongside Rylan and Craig Doyle for three days, viewers couldn’t get enough of Cat, with many throwing their support behind her .
However, any chance of her doing so have now been dashed after it was revealed she’s instead returning to Hollywood to continue her gig as the host of So You Think You Can Dance.
Hosting the dance competition series since 2006, Cat is currently back in the United States to film the show, which will return to screens in March.
During her time presenting This Morning, many viewers begged ITV bosses to keep her on board, with some fans labelling her ‘warm, funny, intelligent and empathetic’.
Back in 2020 , another of ITV’s flagship morning programmes.
While a source previously told The Sun that This Morning bosses believed she could ‘steady the ship’, last week Cat said the recent gig was a ‘one-off’.
Reflecting on her This Morning hosting debut, she told Closer: ‘It was so much fun, but it was only really a one-off.
‘I’m going to LA for six days soon and then I’ll have loads of promo for my new show in January, so we’ll have to see if anything more comes of it.
‘It was great fun, but we don’t know what’s going to happen.’
Last month Richard Madeley, who launched and fronted the show for 21 years alongside wife Judy Finnigan, said he believed the show would continue despite losing its two hosts in the space of a single year simply because it ‘isn’t about the face, it’s about the format’.
He added: ‘Obviously the presenters have to know what they’re doing, they have to do a professional job, but it’s the content and the format that matters. There it is, it’ll carry on.’
Metro.co.uk has contacted ITV and representatives for Cat Deeley for comment.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
