’s dream of traveling to space to shoot a new movie is still going strong, almost three years after his project was announced.
Despite dominating the box office with , the 61-year-old still has his eye on becoming the first civilian to walk outside the International Space Station for our enjoyment.
Is there nothing he can’t do?
Appearing at the Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning part one premiere in on Monday, he revealed .
Although he didn’t have a start date for the production, Tom told : ‘We’ve been working on it diligently and we’ll see where we go.’
Well, the Hollywood icon has a lot on his plate before then as he will be getting straight back to work on the second part of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning before he can even contemplate a space trip.
Writer and director Christopher McQuarrie told the outlet of the strict schedule: ‘We finish this tour, and on our way back to the UK, we stop to scout along the way. We hit the ground running as soon as we get back.
‘I get two days of vacation between here and Tokyo and I’m back on.’
Tom’s upcoming flick was first announced by NASA in 2020, with Doug Liman serving as director.
Little else has been shared but Universal chairwoman Dame Donna Langley previously revealed her excitement at the potential stunts.
‘We have a great project in development with Tom that does contemplate him taking a rocket to the Space Station,’ she told the BBC.
‘He will play a down-on-his-luck guy who finds himself in the position of being the only person who could save Earth.
‘And hopefully he will become the first civilian to do a space walk outside of the International Space Station.’
