Tom Grennan endured a pretty nasty injury during last night’s Soccer Aid 2022.
The annual event sees stars come together to play a huge charity game of football, with England facing off against the Rest of the World – or World XI- for the 10th instalment since Soccer Aid was founded in 2006.
It was a close call this year, with the game ending in penalties and Lee Mack scoring the winning goal for The World.
England then took the lead with a goal from the Little Bit Of Love singer before scored for World XI.
However, the 27-year-old musician showcased his bruised ankle and called out former French player via Instagram Stories.
‘Good tackle that @patrice.evra,’ he wrote.
Tom also shared a picture of him on crutches on Twitter, however he seemed to be in good spirits as he pulled a funny face for the camera.
Fans quickly praised the singer’s impressive performance on the pitch and also wished him a speedy recovery.
‘Tom, poor you!! Speedy recovery! Rocking the air cast tho!!’ one person wrote.
‘Oh no Tom. Hope you recover quickly. You were amazing last night,’ another added.
The Soccer Aid World XI was captained by Usain Bolt, who this time was joined by returners Martin Compston, Mo Gilligan, Lee, and 2021’s man of the match Kem.
Noah Beck was first to score for World XI, with Mark Wright scoring an equaliser for England – both on penalties.
Despite scoring the winning penalty, comedian Lee played it cool after chatting about his goal, saying: ‘Only touched the ball once when I came on, my penalty!’
Ukraine’s Andriy Shevencho and Jamaica’s Usain Bolt lifted the Soccer Aid trophy, with the stars sure to be thrilled with the amount raised for Unicef.
