Tom Grennan has revealed why he refused to allow an assault that hospitalised him to ruin his dream trip to New York City.
The Little Bit Of Love singer was in the big apple last month, when he was in the US touring his music.
He was then taken to hospital with a ruptured ear and torn eardrum following the unprovoked attack, in which he was also knocked out.
The 26-year-old singer was forced to postpone an upcoming show in Washington to allow time to recuperate.
Opening up about the shocking incident, Tom said over the weekend: ‘I was in the wrong part of town really, stupidly.
‘I went for a few drinks after a gig to celebrate, and I don’t really know New York at all, but it turned out to be wrong place at the wrong time.’
However, showing his optimistic nature, he added : ‘I couldn’t let it spoil the experience and it didn’t, I’ll never forget that trip and we went to Australia straight after.
‘It has been the most incredible year or two for me.’
over the past year, which has included his second album, Evening Road, reaching number one on the UK chart and the popular tracks Little Bit Of Love and Let’s Go Home Together featuring Ella Henderson clocking up the spins.
Opening up about his hit album, Tom told Metro.co.uk last year: ‘It’s a break-up album but it’s an uplifting break-up album. It’s one of them ones where I’ve held my hands up for the things that I’ve done and I’m here to say sorry for it.
‘I’m here saying I’m sorry and I want to be a better person. I don’t want to make the same mistake twice.’
He added: ‘If it was a break-up album in the sense of crying about it, feel sorry for me, I feel like there’s so many of them about. This one is not that.
‘It was a therapeutic time for me and made me realise I can’t be doing these things anymore and just wanted to be a better person. I’ve got a massive heart and I’m not a bad person but I was just consumed in a lot of things.
‘I’ve got a lot of demons and I didn’t enjoy that life anymore.’
