Tom Parker’s wife Kelsey has thanked the Grammys’ moving tribute to the late singer following his death last month.Â
at the age of 33 following a highly-publicised battle with a brain tumour.Â
During the Grammy Awards in California on Sunday, Parker was included in their In Memoriam segment alongside other notable figures in music who died, such as and composer Steven Sondheim.Â
Parker’s image appeared on screen on the stage as the tribute was accompanied by a medley of Sondheim’s songs, performed by Ben Platt, , Leslie Odom Jr and Rachel Zegler.
The singer’s widow Kelsey shared a photo from the segment in her Instagram stories and captioned it with three red hearts.
She also reposted a story from former EastEnders actress Martine McCutcheon, who wrote: ‘The Grammys [heart emoji] Yesssss @being_kelsey @tomparkerofficial.’Â
Fans were equally moved by Parker’s inclusion, with one tweeting: ‘I have sobbed over the death of Tom Parker multiple times this week. I am glad the Grammys included him in the memorial.’
Another said: ‘Did I tear up seeing the #GRAMMYs add @TomParker of @thewanted to their In Memoriam tribute, especially since he just passed a couple of days ago? Yes. Yes, I did.’Â
Welling up with emotion, one fan weighed in: ‘You made it to the grammys our tom, look at you.’
Parker was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma, an inoperable brain tumour.
His death was announced in a statement on Wednesday, which said: ‘It is with the heaviest of hearts that we confirm Tom passed away peacefully earlier today with all of his family by his side.
‘Our hearts are broken.
‘Tom was the centre of our world and we can’t imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence.
Thank you to everyone who has supported in his care throughout. He fought until the very end.’
