There’s bittersweet news from the Summerhouse ends as will return for season three, but it will also be the last.

Fans of the Netflix revival have just finished getting stuck into Top Boy season two, which saw Ashley Walters and Kano reprise their roles as Dushane and Sully respectively.

They’ll be back for season three which will begin filming this summer but, sadly, the drama will be coming to an end.

In a joint statement, Ashley and Kano – real name Kane Robinson – said: ‘For those that have followed the journey from the start, you will know how much this show means to everyone on our team and we wholeheartedly know how much it means to you.

‘These characters have been a part of our lives for over a decade now and without everyone’s support we couldn’t have come this far.

‘Whilst the journeys of Dushane and Sully have remained at the core of the show, the new characters that have entered the world of Top Boy have become a key part of the show’s legacy, representing each new storyline in a raw, authentic way.’

They added: ‘With all this being said, and staying true to our original goal, every story must have an ending and so season three will be our finale. A chance to come full circle and end the journey in the right way.

We’re very excited about what’s next and thank you for riding with us. We appreciate you. See you again soon.’

Top Boy was originally a Channel 4 series but, despite its popularity, was cancelled in 2013.

The Netflix gods, however, heard our pleas for the series to be picked up for a new season and it returned – with the help of Drake – in 2019. It was met with , proving to be well worth the six-year wait.

Season two was then released on March 18 and follows Jamie (Micheal Ward) as he gets out of prison and disrupts Dushane’s (Walters) unrivaled rule of Summerhouse, while Sully (Kano) emerges from his reclusive life to ride out for family.

The finale of the season left fans with their jaws-dropped and now the stakes are at their highest ahead of the final reckoning.

When asked if Top Boy could continue with Dushane and Sully, Walters recently told Metro.co.uk: ‘No, I don’t think it could if I’m honest with you. Look, potentially there’s space for it, but I think that relationship is the core of the show, of what the show is about.

‘And although there are so many new characters that have come into it, I think those two characters are the spine of every story. Every story connects to us in some sort of way.’

Top Boy season 2 is available to watch on Netflix.
