, who became famous after starring on The Only Way Is Essex, has opened up about expecting a second child with his wife Becky Meisner.
The reality star appeared on his sister ’s podcast Happy Mum, Happy Baby, where he also spoke about when Becky suffered a miscarriage following their first round of IVF treatment.
Mario, 34, and Becky, 33, , with the former’s family hailing from Italy.
The couple, who’ve been together since 2016 and became engaged the following year, , a baby boy named Parker Jax Falcone.
He shared with his sister Giovanna, 37, that when they were trying for their second baby, they had ‘added pressure’ where they felt as though they were letting their son down.
‘When we were trying for baby two, with this added pressure we felt like we were letting Parker down, that he was so ready for a sibling when he’s around his cousins and then comes home and says “Why haven’t I got a brother or a sister”,’ Mario said on the podcast, where he was also joined by his other sister Giorgina Falcone.
‘And that kills you, it literally kills you inside because you’re like, “I can give you anything you want as my son, but this is the one thing I actually can’t give you.”’
Mario recalled how ‘guilty’ he and Becky felt at the time, which also put some ‘pressure’ on their relationship.
During their first round of IVF, Becky ‘had a bleed’ at seven weeks, and they were informed that ‘everything was fine’ when they went to have her checked.
‘Then about a week and a half later it happened again and we went in for a scan thinking it was all going to be fine, but it wasn’t, she had a miscarriage,’ he recollected.
‘That was probably the hardest thing I think that we’ve had to deal with in our relationship, because it’s the disappointment of yourselves, because we got really excited about telling our families at Christmas – we had these little cards made that unfortunately came the next day.’
The TV personality emphasised that men ‘don’t see ‘how hard it is’ when a woman suffers a miscarriage, saying that he ‘saw Becky broken’.
‘As men we don’t actually realise the toll it takes on your body, but more importantly your emotions, and how much even though we feel disappointed, times that by a million [for her],’ he said.
After taking some time off from trying to conceive so that they could enjoy their wedding over the summer, the couple tried IVF again, with the third time being successful.
