A TV star who found fame on a gruelling reality series has come out as queer to her fans and revealed her romance with comedian .
In a post shared on Instagram, Parvati Shallow – who won the competition in 2008 – uploaded adorable snaps of her and Mae cuddling up in a photobooth.
In the first two pictures, Parvati, 41, and Mae, 36, each on the cheeks, grinning from ear to ear.
In the final photo, the reality star cradled her partner’s face as she kissed them on the lips, writing in her caption: ‘We’re here. We’re queer. Happy new year ❤️🌈.’
Fans were quick to congratulate the couple on the news of their relationship, with writer Evan Ross Katz commenting: ‘A perfect pair. Honored to have played the tiniest role in this epic link-up. Love you both.’
‘What a day for lesbians who watch Survivor,’ an Instagram user named Harriet wrote, while former Survivor star Eliza Orlins added: ‘So happy for you two! You look so happy!’
Parvati was previously married to fellow Survivor participant John Fincher, who she began dating in 2014.
The former couple were married in 2017 and welcomed their daughter in July 2018, before divorcing three years later.
Mae – whoand uses they/them pronouns – reposted Parvati’s Instagram announcement about their relationship on their Instagram Story, adding emojis of eyes brimming with happy tears and a heart.
The Canadian comedian also reposted a message from Evan, which read: ‘Couldn’t be happier for two of my favourite people.’
They later shared a video of Parvati smiling cheekily at the camera, while overlooking a scenic beach view.
After gaining renown on the comedy circuit for their hilarious stand-up routines, Mae found wider fame in 2020 with the release of their TV series Feel Good, which they co-created, wrote and starred in.
The Channel 4 programme released a second season in 2021 and received critical acclaim, boasting a cast including Charlotte Ritchie as Mae’s girlfriend and Lisa Kudrow as their mother.
Parvati has appeared in several iterations of Survivor, including Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains and Survivor: Winners at War.
She’s set to compete in the second season of The Traitors in the US, alongside Love Island’s Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and former Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow.
