The upcoming chapter, which is set to launch on Prime Video on Friday, will introduce a new group of survivors, all boys, who find themselves in the same perilous situation as Toni (played by Erana James), Dot (Shannon Berry), and the rest of the girls.
Both groups will be forced to navigate emotional and physical obstacles in the face of their extreme circumstances.
Struggling to remember the events of season 1? We’ve got a trusty recap to get you back up to speed.
What happened at the end of The Wilds season 1?
The Wilds season 1 ended with the revelation that the girls are part of an experiment, titled Dawn Of Eve, and that they aren’t the only test subjects.
Nora (played by Helena Howard) was also exposed as a mole and it was heavily hinted that Martha is dead. Let’s get into it.
The series one finale began with a suspicious Leah (Sarah Pidgeon) following Nora into the woods to search for hidden cameras. Nora tricked her into falling into a pit, but she managed to escape and return to camp. Before Leah could tell the others about Nora’s betrayal, Rachel (Reign Edwards) was attacked by a shark and Nora ran into the water to save her.
The episode then jumped back in time and showed Nora dating a boy named Quinn. Their relationship was short-lived, however, as Rachel disliked him. Later, in the autumn, Nora discovered Quinn was Ki**ed in a hazing accident. Nora visited the prison to talk to the assailant and was shortly acquainted with the attacker’s mother, Gretchen (Rachel Griffiths), the scientist behind Dawn Of Eve. It was during this meeting that Gretchen recruited Nora into her study to be the second mole. She agreed and also got her sister a spot in the experiment.
The episode then jumped forward to show the girls in a special facility where they were individually interviewed by agents about their time on the island. They are kept apart from each other and the information extracted from them is reported back to Gretchen. All the girls are interviewed apart for Martha and Nora. While Martha was nowhere to be seen, agents were seen going through her belongings to find something substantial for Gretchen to make sure her family didn’t sue. This heavily indicated that Martha has died.
During Rachel’s interview, it is revealed that she lost a hand, which looks likely to be a result of the shark attack. She also suggested that something happened to Nora.
Elsewhere, it is suggested that Shelby (Mia Healey) has lost her mind. She was seen with her head shaved and ate shellfish, despite being allergic to it. While Leah attempted to answer interrogation questions, she remained suspicious. And this is furthered after Shelby passed her a note during a rare visit telling her that she was right. After going for some fresh air, Leah returned to her room and sneakily left her door unlocked. Later that night, she broke out of her room and found an office filled with screens monitoring a group of male castaways. She also discovered a folder on the desk that was marked ‘Twilight of Adam’.
Lots of questions need to be answered in season two, including when, why, and how were the girls rescued? Is Nora dead? And what happened to Martha?
