What was Nigel Harman’s injury?

Nigel, 50, explained he had suffered a major injury to his rib after ‘leaping’ during a practice routine where he was ‘supposed to be caught by handsome men’ as he was ‘Peter Pan-ned’ through the air, but things didn’t go quite to plan.

‘I injured my rib and it’s quite painful,’ he said, admitting ‘I’m a little bit high on painkillers as well.’

As he and Katya watched clips from their time on the show, the professional dancer sobbed.

‘It’s quite hard… I’ve loved every moment of us on the dancefloor,’ she said, telling him ‘I hope you’ve got something you can cherish forever.’

Nigel said their elimination from the show ‘hasn’t sunk in,’ and it was only when he watched the other dance partners kicking off the show, he realised ‘this is real.’

After the news of Nigel’s sudden exit was announced, a BBC spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘Unfortunately Nigel has sustained an injury which means he is unable to perform in tonight’s show and has had to withdraw from Strictly.’

BBC are yet to make any announcements about how this will impact the three remaining episodes. In 2021, AJ Odudu sustained a foot injury which meant she couldn’t compete in the live final which meant just two couples participated. The 2023 final could also be a similar format.
