Where to watch Doctor Who in the UK – and how to stream old episodes

Interest in has surged in recent weeks as producers gear up for the special 60th anniversary of the show next year and a new series with Ncuti Gatwa .

Since first airing on November 12, 1963, there have been 37 series of the iconic sci-fi show, with a total of 826 episodes.

For new fans who want to catch-up on all the action ahead of Gatwa’s appearance, or old fans just wanting to reminisce on their favourite episodes, here is how you can watch previous DW installments.

Where can I watch Doctor Who?

For those needing a refresher on the show’s 21st Century relaunch, episodes since Christopher Eccleston’s debut as the ninth Doctor in 2005 can be streamed for free on .

You can also catch it on Netflix, iTunes or Amazon Prime.

From the 2005 reboot, there have been 13 series, each including 10-14 episodes – so you’ll want to get started now if you are going to be done in time for the show’s return in autumn.

How to watch old Doctor Who episodes

If you want to watch the older series, which ran until 1989, is showing every episode.

The streaming platform is currently offering a week-long free trial and 50% off for the first three months – possibly enough time to rewatch all 862 episodes, if you forgo your social life.

A more realistic goal might be the special 60th anniversary episode, set to air next year.
