The 31-year-old will be on the Breakfast show every weekday, presenting with Eamonn Monday – Wednesday and continuing to be on screens Thursday and Friday with Stephen Dixon.
Her increased responsibility comes as the broadcaster ahead of the new year.

Who is Ellie Costello?
The only way is Essex for Ellie, who was born and raised in the southern county by her teacher parents. She is very proud of her roots, previously saying ‘some of the most down to earth, warm and genuinely lovely people are from my county’.
Ellie joined the media industry after doing an English Literature degree at Southampton and completing her Masters in Broadcast Journalism at London’s City University.
She began her career at the BBC World Service, but jumping across to The Victoria Derbyshire Show. Here, she worked on big investigations including influencers being solicited for sex and the presence of bullying in the British beauty industry.
Speaking about why she got into journalism, she explained: ‘I’m a naturally gregarious person, a storyteller, and incredibly curious.
‘It’s a great feeling to interview people – whether they’re top politicians, celebrities, or our viewers from around the country. I always learn something new.’
She joined GB News when it launched in 2021 as a South-East reporter, before stepping in for the Weekend Breakfast alongside Stephen Dixon. Ellie is now a weekday presenter.
Does Ellie Costello have a partner?
Yes, Ellie has a partner, and is planning their wedding after they became engaged in 2023. The proposal took place during a holiday to Phuket in Thailand, with Ellie later informing fans of the happy news.
‘There’s so little good news in the world right now… I hope you don’t mind me sharing some of my own 🤍 💍. I said YES,’ she wrote.
Ellie chooses not to show the face of her partner or share his name, so the Instagram snaps were of the pair looking away from the camera during a sunset on a boat and her sparkly ring.
Ellie Costello’s stalking ordeal
Ellie has spoken out about being stalked by a man who she interviewed via Zoom. They spoke twice on the platform, before connecting on X, and exchanging polite messages. However, things quickly escalated into ‘I love you’, ‘I love seeing you in the mornings’, ‘you’re so precious’, ‘you’re so special’, ‘when am I seeing you this is driving me insane’.
‘It was a terrifying experience and really affected my ability to be relaxed when out and about doing my job,’ she recalled.
Often, Ellie will reveal her location at the start of a news report, but that become a scary part of her role, and made her feel like a ‘sitting duck’.
‘After doing my first ‘live’ of the day, I knew that I had exposed myself, and I would spend the rest of my shift looking over my shoulder, waiting for my perpetrator to show up,’ Ellie told .
‘Then the fear would kick in, and that fear is a strange one to try and explain. It comes from an uneasiness about what that person wants with you. Do they want to say hello, do they want a photo? A hug? Or do they want to do you some harm?’
He pleaded guilty to stalking and harassment at court in late 2022, and was sentenced to a suspended prison sentence and a five-year restraining order.
