Now, a new survey claims that the number of Americans aged 8 and over who identify as a WWE fan has continued to soar.
According to the , WWE has hit a new record with 89.9 million fans across the US in 2022, which they say is an increase of 4.8 million over the 2021 figure.
For the research, the core poll results are said to be representative of the US population aged 12 and up, with mover 500,000 Americans interviewed for it over the past 25 years.
Furthermore, the Sports Poll Kids study included 1,200 children aged 8 to 11.
It comes amid a staggering period for WWE, with all-time high gate and/or attendance records set in 57 cities around the world over the past six months.
During that same period, every premium live event has also broken its gate record, with more than $7.7 million.
This surpassed the previous Royal Rumble high in 2017 by more than 50%, while WrestleMania’s $21.6 million gate was a 27% rise on the previous record.
WWE is currently in an interesting position as it looks to negotiate its upcoming US media rights for both Raw (NBCU) and SmackDown (Fox), while the WWE Network is part of Peacock in the US.
Asked about the state of the discussions, recently told the J.P. Morgan 51st Annual Global Technology, Media and Communications Conference in Boston in a webcast session: ‘We are just out of the exclusive window with Fox; we are still in the window with NBCU.
‘Conversations with both have gone phenomenally well. What we are trying to balance here is getting the maximum value for what we consider these media rights to be.’
