Triple H left his boots in the middle of the ring at WrestleMania 38 during an emotional moment days after announcing his retirement.
The legendary star has confirmed and a life threatening health battle in September.
At the beginning of Sunday’s event, his iconic theme music blared out and he made his epic entrance to a thunderous ovation.
He thanked everyone for their support and then left his boots on the mat as a longstanding symbol of a wrestling retirement, and gave way to the opening match.
In a touching moment, he hugged his family at ringside on his way back up the ramp.
It wasn’t his only appearance of the weekend, as he was in attendance at the Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday night.
The following day, he came out during Tommaso Ciampa’s own emotional farewell at NXT Stand and Deliver.
There, he came out to embrace his black and gold brand protege, before leaving him to soak up the applause, while he also and gave an inspirational message.
It comes after his recent interview with Stephen A. Smith on ESPN’s , during which he said he battled viral pneumonia and heart failure, and now has a defibrillator in his chest.
He revealed: ‘For me, as far as in-ring, I’m done. I will never wrestle again. I have a defibrillator in my chest, which it’s not a good idea for me zapped on live TV.’
His announcement comes after WWE revealed in early in September 2021 that the 14-time world champion had undergone a successful procedure following a cardiac event.
Triple H has now confirmed he was battling viral pneumonia with fluid in his lungs and around his heart.
The wrestling legend is sure to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in his own right one day, while he’s already been honoured as a member of D-Generation X in 2019, and he boasts 14 world championship reigns, as well as runs with the Intercontinental, European and tag team titles.
His is also a two-time Royal Rumble winner in 2002 and 2016 respectively, and he won the King of the Ring tournament in 1997.
His last official match was a tag team bout in 2019 when he appeared with Shinsuke Nakamura against Robert Roode and Samoa Joe in Japan, while his final televised match was against Randy Orton at Super ShowDown in 2019.
