NXT: Spring Breakin’ ended on a cliffhanger as Bron Breakker retained his Championship in the main event.
The rising star overcame rival Joe Gacy to hold onto the gold in the headline match of Tuesday night’s special, but there was more to come after the bell as he celebrated in the ring.
Just before the show went off air, fans saw two hooded figures in red masks appear behind Breakker, but the broadcast ended before anything else could happen.
In a video since released by WWE on social media, the two mystery men laid out the champ, beating him down before loading him onto a stretcher and carrying him out.
It remains to be seen who the cloaked pair are, or how they will factor into storylines going forward.
It was a rollercoaster night for Breakker, who came out for his match wearing the same singlet his wore on an early episode of Raw.
Elsewhere on Spring Breakin’, the show opened with a fantastic Triple Threat match as Cameron Grimes successfully defended his NXT North American Championship against Carmelo Hayes and Solo Sikia.
Nathan Frazier shone in his NXT 2.0 debut, battling Grayson Waller in a brilliant clash after Chase U caused a distraction which gave him the opening he needed.
Roderick Strong left the Creed Brothers unimpressed after he helped them to victory over The Viking Raiders, while Cora Jade and Nikkita Lyons overcame Lash Legend and Natalya in a tag team bout.
The show also reference the, with Indi Hartwell and Duke Hudson meeting backstage after their respective on-screen lovers Dexter Lumis and Persia Pirotta were let go.
In an awkward moment, Duke seemed to lean in for a kiss but he was quickly shot down by Indi, making it clear they won’t be having their own romance.
Responding to a video on Twitter, Persia – real name Stephanie De Landre – shared a crying laughing emoji and quipped: ‘Dang the body isn’t even cold yet!’
