superstar Sami Zayn is back on the sidelines just one week after returning to action.
The former Intercontinental Champion, who primarily appears on the Raw brand, hadn’t been on a show since he was written off TV early in December, but he wrestled on a few nights of the company’s recent WWE Live Holiday Tour.
He at Madison Square Garden on Boxing Day, and again in Boston the following night, before enjoying on December 28.
His match with Finn Balor ended in a disqualification, and soon got turned into a tag bout pitting Sami and Kevin Owens against Finn and Dominik Mysterio.
On Friday, he faced Finn again in a Last Man Standing Match in Toronto, and while he got the win, he was a bloody mess by the end of the bout.
The injury occurred when Sami put his opponent through a table, with part of the object hitting cutting his head open in the chaos.
He was pulled from the company’s event in Los Angeles over the weekend, and on Monday Night Raw this week, it was announced he needed 15 stitches in his head as a result.
Sami was after requesting time off, with the storyline reason for his absence coming as Drew McIntyre laid him out.
Announcing his appearances on the recent tour, the beloved star admitted 2023 had been ‘crazy and in some ways difficult’.
He wrote: ‘Haven’t been very active on here [X/Twitter] lately. It’s been a crazy and in some ways difficult time for me, but I’m so grateful to be in such great cities, with such great fans, to end such a remarkable year.
‘This life has been too good to me. Just know I’m very happy to be here with you.’
It’s unclear how the real life injury setback will impact his return to Raw.
