superstar Sonya Deville has undergone surgery following her devastating injury a couple of weeks ago.
On Monday Night Raw, the company confirmed the Women’s Tag Team Champion – who still holds the gold with tag partner Green – last month.
The 29-year-old star has given fans an update after undergoing a procedure to fix the issue this week, and she’s now ready to kick start the long road to recovery.
Taking to Instagram, Sonya shared a selfie smiling at the camera with her thumb up as she lay in a hospital bed wearing a gown.
She captioned the post: ‘Day One Post Op Update. ?? Surgery went great ? AND I am still Champ Sonya? ‘
Her fans and fellow wrestlers have sent messages of support, with the likes of of Brie Bella, Emma, Maxxine Dupri and Mickie James responding with heart emojis, while Nia Jax replied with prayer hands.
Tommaso Ciampa was feeling cheeky though, as he quipped: ‘You got them post op drug eyes ?’
‘You got this champ,’ commented WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus, while ring announcer Samantha Irvin added: ‘❤️❤️❤️ Champ Recovery!!!’
And WWE official Adam Pearce, who previously worked on screen with Sonya as they ran Raw and SmackDown, wrote: ‘Heal up quick, pahtnah’
Sonya’s post comes after she said in a social media video she would be ‘out for an extended period of time’ as she recovers from surgery, and noted having her ‘first injury in wrestling’ come after her first ever championship win was ‘super bitter’.
She added: ‘I feel like, coming back from this injury, although it’s unfortunate, I feel like it’s going to give me a bigger motivation and passion for what I already love doing, and that’s being in the WWE.’
