Kevin Owens admits is the only thing that stopped him being ‘real bitter’ about another big clash.
Over the weekend, the superstar found himself in dream match territory as he battled his childhood hero in the Texas Rattlesnake’s first bout for 19 years, but he was still envious of his longtime friend Sami Zayn.
Sami appeared in what was essentially a live show against Johnny Knoxville as the latter used giant mousetraps, a bowling ball, an air horn .
Speaking in Dallas one day before WrestleMania kicked off, Kevin exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘If I was in any other situation for WrestleMania than the one I’m in, I would be extremely jealous!
‘I love the Jackass movies, I’ve always loved them, I’ve been a fan of Johnny Knoxville for a long time. The fact that Sami gets to do this with him is so awesome.
‘If I wasn’t in the ring with Stone Cold this weekend, I’d be real bitter and jealous! It’s all good, I’m happy for him.’
In an ironic twist, Zayn has actually admitted, noting the show made him feel ‘squeamish’.
He told us: ‘If I’m being honest, I think I kinda missed the point of Jackass when I was younger.
‘I think I only, at a glance, looked at it at first and just saw guys doing crazy things and getting hurt. I’m not a fan of watching people get hurt to be honest – which is strange to hear considering I was obsessed with pro wrestling and I became a wrestler.
‘But I’m a bit squeamish, I’m not a fan of watching people get hurt. I just thought that that’s all Jackass was, but now in my older age, I understand that that’s not the appeal of it and it never was.
‘It’s about the friendships and the camaraderie. It’s funny because people miss the point of wrestling all the time, so it’s funny that someone who’s as obsessed with wrestling as I am, that I missed the point of Jackass.’
Meanwhile, even after their WrestleMania match, as the Jackass legend suggested he could be back for more in the future.
Leading into the match, he told us: ‘Oh, I would love to come back and do something more in the future! It’s been a dream come true working with the WWE!
‘It’s been so much fun, I didn’t realise I would become so completely obsessed with it like I have, it’s so fun!’
WWE Raw (Mondays) and SmackDown (Fridays) air weekly at 1am on BT Sport 1.
