‘The end is approaching’ – Thiago Silva provides update on his Chelsea future

Silva, who moved to west London in 2020, has started all 10 of Chelsea’s fixtures this season, completing 90 minutes in all of them.

The Brazilian veteran has now opened up about his possible plans for retirement in an interview with Sky Sports Italia.

‘The end of my career is approaching and it’s not easy,’ the former Paris-Saint Germain star said.

‘I have to think if I retire or if I continue, and where I go. There’s the family, I have two sons who play for Chelsea.

‘At the moment I’ll take the opportunity to play and make the most of this last year of my contract at Chelsea. But I’m very happy and proud of the career I’ve had, of what I’m doing now at 39-years-old.

‘I have prepared all my life to make the most of my work, football is my passion. Surely after I retire I will continue in this world, I don’t know how yet.’

, hinting that he could be tempted into a return to his former club Fluminense in Brazil earlier this month.

‘This relationship has been going on for a long time, right,’ Thiago Silva told Globo’s Esporte Espetacular of Fluminense. ‘But I prefer to remain silent at this moment, as there has already been some controversy in the recent past.’
