Amadou Onana is a doubt for ’s clash against this Sunday.
The 23-year-old was forced off in the second half of Villa’s 1-0 win over in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
Onana has quickly established himself as a key part of Villa’s midfield since arriving in a £50 million deal from Everton in the summer.
However, Villa could be without Onana for their match at home against United this weekend, with Unai Emery claiming that a late decision will be made on the midfielder’s availability.
‘He is a doubt but I think he will be available,’ Emery said on Friday.
‘He’s not a really serious injury, but playing matches during the week and at the weekend, we have to be clinical in our decision close to arriving at the next match.
‘Tomorrow morning, even until Sunday morning maybe – Leon Bailey, Jacob Ramsey, Amadou Onana – and how they are recovering from the effort we did on Wednesday is going to be very, very important in my decision.
‘I have to try and identify as well if I can do some changes getting better moments for other players when they are ready to play.’
Belgium head coach, Domenico Tedesco, revealed earlier on Friday that Onana is carrying an injury and could be rested during the international break.
Onana has been named in Belgium’s 23-man squad for their upcoming Nations League games against Italy and France.
But Tedesco said at his press conference: ‘Onana has a small problem, but an MRI was positive and otherwise we will replace him.
‘He will try to play but we will monitor him.’
Onana has started in all six of Villa’s Premier League games this season, scoring two goals.
