Andreas Christensen has all but confirmed a move to , describing the La Liga giants as ‘one of the biggest clubs in the world’.
The Dane left this month after refusing to sign a contract extension at Stamford Bridge.
The defender was highly-rated by , who made no secret of his desire to keep the centre-back at the club.
But Christensen opted against signing a new deal and there’s been heavy speculation that he’s set to join Barcelona.
The move is yet to be announced but Christensen has dropped a big hint that he’s on his way to the Camp Nou.
‘I know where I have to play,’ Christensen told reporters after Denmark’s win against Austria.
Asked where he would be playing, Christensen said: ‘Unfortunately, it’s not entirely up to me [the timing of the announcement]. There are also other things that need to fall into place.
‘Hopefully soon. But I have known what I was going to do for a while. I’m just waiting for the right time.’
A reporter then specifically asked about Barcelona and Christensen, with a wry smile, replied: ‘It is one of the biggest clubs in Europe. I think it is for everyone – whether they have had their problems or not, it is still one of the biggest clubs for a player to get to.’
