Charlie Nicholas reckons Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou would be ‘ideal’ for Liverpool if left his role as manager at Anfield.
Liverpool are going through something of a nightmare season so far, with a shocking 3-0 defeat at Wolves at the weekend leaving them 10th in the Premier League.
Klopp has been a brilliant boss for the Reds, winning the Premier League and among other trophies, but no manager is immune from criticism and there have been some questions over his future.
The German is not about to be sacked, but it is not out of the question he could leave in the summer and Nicholas reckons the Liverpool owners should look north if they need a replacement in the dugout.
The Celtic and Arsenal legend thinks the charismatic Australian would be the ideal man for the job at Anfield, and while he would hate to see him leave Glasgow, it could happen.
‘I am not a Liverpool fan by any stretch of the imagination but I would be concerned about the possible impact managerial change at Anfield could have on Ange Postecoglou,’ Nicholas wrote for the .
‘I know the Liverpool fans don’t want Klopp out but what happens if he turns around and says enough is enough? Could Ange for Liverpool become reality? Ange will have ambitions as well. Yes, he is at a top club but would a big club in a big league have even more pull?
‘If Liverpool were to look for a manager then surely Ange would have to come into the equation.
‘I hate to say this because I know a lot of my fellow Celtic fans won’t like me saying this but Ange would be ideal for Liverpool.’
Klopp will hope to get his side back on track in their next outing, the Merseyside derby against Everton on Monday 13 February.
