Tottenham Hotspur manager is preparing to hold crunch talks with the club’s hierarchy over summer transfers, according to reports.
reports that the Italian will tell chairman Daniel Levy and managing director of Fabio Paratici that he wants to make as many as six signings when the transfer window opens.
Conte joined Spurs last November and has had a great impact at the club so far, helping the north side recover from their difficult start to the season under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Spurs are currently fourth in the table but only three points ahead of and Manchester United, with all three clubs set to fight it out over the last remaining Champions League qualification spot.
Conte has also had great joy in the transfer window, with the January signings of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur proving highly successful, but the Italian believes more are needed if the club are to match his ambition to win the Premier League.
A host of well-known names have been linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium recently, including goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, defenders Djed Spence and Gleison Bremer, midfielder Youri Tielemans and former Spurs attackers Christian Eriksen and Gareth Bale.
However, the reports also say that Spurs will have difficulty in the transfer market as they are already at the limit when it comes to the number of non-homegrown players in their squad.
According to Premier League rules, only 17 foreign players are allowed, and Spurs currently have 16, and that doesn’t include players they have out on loan including Bryan Gil, Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele.
As such, there are likely to be just as many out-goings as in-comings this summer, but the matter could be further complicated with several home-grown stars like Joe Rodon and Harry Winks supposedly wanting to leave.
