boss Erik ten Hag says had his best game yet in a red shirt during the side’s 2-1 win against .
The 22-year-old made history by becoming the first United player to score in his first three Premier League appearances after scoring the side’s equaliser against the Toffees.
The Brazilian joined United in the final week of the transfer window when he completed a £85m move to Old Trafford.
Antony netted in a 3-1 win against Arsenal on his debut, before scoring a stunning strike in 6-3 defeat to last week.
But while he has impressed since his move, Antony was criticised by Arsene Wenger and Paul Scholes for failing to help Diogo Dalot in defence against City last week.
But Ten Hag says Antony showed the required work-rate against Everton as well as his attacking potential, which resulted in his best performance yet at the club.
‘I was quite [confident] that he could straight away have an impact, and in the first games he has had his good moments, he had his bad moments, but I think today he played his best game so far,’ said Ten Hag.
‘Now you see his running behind, and that is what I expect from him. Now I see his pressing, his defending is much better than in the first games and he has his dribbles, so I am happy with his performance, I am happy with his development.
‘But I know there is still huge improvement and I know in the club and also in the Premier League that he needs to challenge. So he has to go every day to get out the best of him.’
Ten Hag picked a front three of Antony, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial for the first time this season against Everton.
However, Martial sustained a back injury midway through the first half and had to be replaced by Cristiano Ronaldo shortly before the half-hour mark.
