are reportedly confident Bukayo Saka will put pen to paper on a new long-term contract amid interest from and Liverpool.
The 20-year-old has continued to excel for Mikel Arteta’s side, picking up Arsenal’s Player of the Season award for the 2021/22 campaign.
Saka’s excellent displays have unsurprisingly caught the attention of English football’s top clubs, as both City and Liverpool have been credited with an interest in the winger.
Though he has two years remaining on his current deal, the Gunners are looking to tie down the academy graduate for the long term.
report that Arsenal are adamant Saka will not be leaving the club and the club remain assured he will sign a new contract.
The England international is currently on duty with the Three Lions, with the Gunners waiting for him to return to Arsenal before commencing contract negotiations.
Saka is in line for a deal worth in the region of £125,000-a-week, which would represent a significant increase on his current wages of £30,000-a-week.
Former Gunners winger Theo Walcott has urged Saka to snub a move to Pep Guardiola’s side due to the ‘limited’ playing time he could have at the Etihad Stadium.
‘Well, there is obviously a transitional stage at Arsenal, that Mikel is part of, and Saka is massively part of it as well,’ Walcott told talkSPORT.
‘The younger crop of players at Arsenal coming through, I feel as though the club need to keep hold of him, simple as that.
‘Obviously, when Manchester City coming knocking on the door, it is such a hard thing for any player really to turn down.
‘He is very young, but I feel that he likes the area of London in Arsenal, the fans have been fantastic, and at the Emirates, which is one of the best stadiums I have ever played in.
‘He has great support, and I will be intrigued. My heart says he will be at Arsenal next season, and we will see after that.
‘He needs to understand that the playing opportunities will be limited at Manchester City. He will, of course, be more likely to win things, but it is not saying Arsenal won’t win things.’
