Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez is likely to attract a lot of interest over the summer transfer window, and although both and Tottenham are interested in him, is his preferred destination, according to reports.
The 24-year-old has been a hit at Inter since joining from Racing in his home country of Argentina in 2018.
The striker has netted 65 times in 171 appearances and has also become a regular for his nation, scoring 19 times in 37 caps for Argentina.
He remains under contract at Inter all the way until 2026, but that will not stop clubs from around Europe making a move for him at the end of this season.
Arsenal have been credited with firm interest in Martinez as they look for a new forward, but transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reckons Spurs and Atleti are leading the way and the Spanish side have a distinct advantage.
Speaking to , Di Marzio said: ‘I think it could be the summer of Lautaro and Atletico Madrid or Tottenham could be perfect solutions for him but I know that he’d like to go to Madrid.
‘Tottenham, because I think Tottenham will go forward to Lautaro, they wanted him last summer as they want another striker because they have to sell (Harry) Kane.
‘They want another striker to play with Kane or prepare the future without Kane and Lautaro Martinez is one of the players that Fabio Paratici loves more.”
‘If he (Lautaro) had to choose another team and another tournament he would choose Atletico Madrid and Simeone.’
Italian publication report that Inter Milan will want around £59m for Martinez, given that he has four years left on his contract.
