Auston Trusty has joined City on a season-long loan from , his second stint away from the Gunners after signing for the club in January this year.

The 23-year-old centre-back joined Arsenal from Colorado Rapids in January and immediately returned on loan to the MLS side.

Yet to play for anyone outside of the States, the American will now spend a season in the Championship with Birmingham as he looks to prove himself to be an asset to Arsenal.

The 6’4″ defender is up for the challenge of the Championship and is excited to get started at St Andrews.

‘It feels great!’ Trusty said. ‘I am honoured, I am blessed, I am excited for the new chapter and the new challenges. I am just really really happy to be here.

‘I am a centre-back. I am willing to run, to get stuck into challenges and willing to sacrifice for my teammates. That is the kind of player you are getting from me and are getting for the team.

‘I know it is going to be a challenge, I know the intensity is going to be tough. I am just really looking forward to it.’

Trusty is one of a string of Arsenal players to move on loan for the season to come, including Omar Rekik going to Sparta Rotterdam, Tyreece John-Jules heading to Ipswich, Harry Clarke signing for Stoke and Nikolaj Moller moving to FC Den Bosch.

When Trusty moved to Arsenal this year, he told SBI: ‘I had some interest from some various clubs and then Arsenal came into the picture and that is a club where you don’t really say no if they come calling for you.

‘Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in the world and it has always been a dream of mine to get to Europe one day.

‘I’m very honoured to be in this position and to be one of their players. I think it would be on the bucket list of a lot of young kids to play for a team like Arsenal and it definitely was on mine.

‘It’s also pretty cool to have another American like Matt Turner joining the club around the same time, it just continues to show the barriers that players from the United States have continued to break. Hopefully we can continue to make strides for American soccer.’
