and are ‘close’ to agreeing new contracts with Arsenal, according to reports.

The pair have been pivotal players for Mikel Arteta’s side this season, helping them mount an unprecedented title challenge.

Though the Gunners have slipped behind by a point, having played a game more, there is still everything to play for over their next four games, and regardless of the outcome they have laid a great foundation for the future.

Young stars Saka and Ramsdale are a key part of that and naturally Arteta is keen to keep the pair at the Emirates for many years to come.

And it looks like he is close to getting his wish, with reporting that both players are set to agree new terms with Arsenal, though exact details are not yet known.

21-year-old Saka’s current contract expires next summer and the winger has previously been linked to the likes of City and Liverpool, no surprise given his sensational form that has seen has record 13 goals and 11 assists in the league so far this season.

The England International is only going from strength to strength and, with the exception of City’s Erling Haaland, is the favourite to be named Young Player of the Year.

Ramsdale is another player who has shown great improvement since joining Arsenal in 2021, having bounced back from back-to-back relegations with Bournemouth and Sheffield United.

The 24-year-old is now considered one of the best goalkeepers in the top-flight, having kept 12 clean sheets in 34 games – only Manchester United’s David de Gea and Newcastle’s Nick Pope have more.

As well as his shot-stopping, Ramsdale’s distribution an leadership are vital to Arteta’s philosophy and dressing room and though his current deal runs until 2025, the manager is keen to reward the three-capped England international with an improved contract.

In the meantime, both players will have to be at the top of their game when Arsenal travel to Newcastle on Sunday, in a game that they must win if they wish to keep their title hopes alive.
