Arsenal goalkeeper says Liverpool forward Diogo Jota ‘sent him to the shops’ and has made him look like a ‘plonker’ during a clash between the two sides.
Portugal international Jota has made a habit of scoring against the Gunners, and has netted past Ramsdale on four occasions this season.
The latest came earlier this month, when the Liverpool star fired in a driven shot which beat the stopper at his near post in a 2-0 victory for the Reds at the Emirates.
Jota scored both of his side’s goals in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, while he also found the back of the net against the Gunners in a 4-0 win in the Premier League at Anfield – feinting to beat Ramsdale and slotting home.
During a segment called ‘Never Have I Ever’ on , the Arsenal goalkeeper was asked whether he has been ‘rinsed’ by a world-class opponent.
Ramsdale replied: ‘[Cristiano] Ronaldo, [Sergio] Aguero, [Jamie] Vardy.
‘Jota – he sent me to the shops didn’t he. For a ‘keeper, the goals which you look at and think, “Made you look a plonker”.’
Arsenal face Crystal Palace on Monday as Mikel Arteta’s side continue their push to finish in the top four.
But the Gunners are said to be sweating over the fitness of Ramsdale and Takehiro Tomiyasu after .
