Still just 15 years old, the defender is yet to make his senior debut for Aberdeen, but he has done enough at youth level to catch the eye of scouts from south of the border.
report that Chelsea have long been tracking the centre-back while the interest from Arsenal has come about more recently.
The report states that the youngster, who turns 16 in March, has been favourably compared to Manchester City and England defender John Stones for his poise on the ball at the back.
Carrol is yet to sign a professional contract at Aberdeen and could move before he does, but the Scottish club would receive a compensation fee if he does.
Carrol could follow the likes of Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen to the Premier League when the full-back moved to Liverpool in 2022.
Ramsay is yet to make his Premier League debut for the Reds, dealing with multiple injury concerns and spending time on loan at Preston and Bolton, but still only 20 he will be hoping he still has a bright future at Anfield.
The Aberdeen senior team is not being led by Neil Warnock, sitting eighth in the Scottish Premiership table after seven league games without a win.
After a recent 2-2 draw with Hibs, Warnock said his side had defended ‘like Sunday League.’
‘It’s frustrating,’ he said. ‘We’ve had 26 attempts on goal but given two goals away like Sunday league.
‘I think that’s the best we’ve played since I’ve come here, and we just missed a little bit of the rub of the green.
‘We played some good stuff at times, but we needed a clean sheet to win the game. I bet Hibs can’t believe the goals we’ve given them – it’s elementary defending, and it’s disappointing after the effort we put into the game.’
