Arsenal legend Ian Wright explains why he wants Liverpool to win the Premier League title

Former striker says he wants Liverpool to win the Premier League title this season so that they can celebrate with their fans.

Two years ago, the Reds finished top ahead of but were forced to carry out their coronation in front of an empty Anfield due to Covid restrictions stopping supporters attending matches.

Wright now hopes that Liverpool can pip Man City to the title this year and give Liverpool supporters the experience they missed out on in 2020.

Speaking on The Kelly and Wrighty show, he said: ‘Liverpool fans have won the now, they’ve done it and they’ve done it a couple of times.

‘I would like Liverpool to be able to win the Premier League so their fans can see it at Anfield. I’d like that to happen for them.’

Liverpool bolstered their title credentials on Saturday by securing a 2-0 win over Watford as goals from Diogo Jota and Fabinho saw the Reds run out comprehensive winners.

Manager Jurgen Klopp was happy with how well his players performed and says they have given themselves a great platform for success this season.

Speaking to , he said: ‘I think it was a really mature performance. After two weeks not together, it’s really tricky. I don’t think after the international break, I’ve ever saw the best game of the season. A very controlled performance.

‘Big two months now. We have the chance to create the situation we wanted to have. The boys have done well to create a top class basis. But we all know it’s a tricky one. We all know it’s hard to win one trophy. We just have to take it game by game.’

Carabao Cup winners Liverpool still remain second, one point behind leaders Manchester City, who themselves beat Burnley 2-0.
