and have engaged in a Twitter spat over after the former Arsenal striker scored his 10th goal for Barcelona.
Mikel Arteta stripped Aubameyang of the captain’s armband at the north club in December due to a disciplinary breach.
The 32-year-old ended up leaving the Gunners in the January transfer window and made the move to Camp Nou on a free transfer.
Aubameyang has hit the ground running at the Catalan club, netting for the 10th time in 14 games during Barcelona’s 3-2 win over Levante on Sunday.
In an exchange on Twitter, Dixon and Morgan strongly disagreed over the circumstances of the centre-forward’s exit and the decision to let him leave Arsenal.
Morgan’s read: ‘BREAKING: Aubameyang scores again for . His 10th goal in 14 games since gave him away for free. Now officially one of the worst decisions in managerial history. @Auba @m8arteta.’
To which Dixon retorted: ‘Piers. Really. You are really making yourself look rather silly. Enough. Get over it. He was disruptive. Club always bigger. You know that. @Arsenal.’
Morgan clearly disagreed with Dixon’s reply, saying: ‘I don’t agree. We lost a world class striker because our manager mis-managed him. Quite clear from his form at Barca, where Xavi loves him, that he’s still a magnificent player. And we’re left with Lacazette who hasn’t scored this year. Terrible decision that will cost us Top4.’
Afterwards, Dixon accused Morgan of having an ‘agenda’ and advised him to ‘ease off and support’.
‘Some players fit others don’t. Opinions is where it’s at. Our coach decided he didn’t fit. We all have our faves. He quite clearly is yours. Banging the Aub drum suits who? You and your agenda which is fine. But doesn’t help anyone but you. I would say ease off and support,’ Dixon said.
But Morgan hit back, insisting the former Arsenal player was being ‘patronising’, after which Dixon apologised.
‘You don’t need to be patronising. I’ve supported Arsenal for 50 years and always will. My only ‘agenda’ is for us to be a competitive team again. Giving our best striker away for free and bringing in no replacement is proving to be the terrible mistake I said it was at the time,’ Morgan said.
Dixon replied: ‘Apologies didn’t realise I was being patronising. Just talking my truth.’
