don’t need to sign a midfielder and should focus on bringing in a centre-back and striker this summer, according to Bacary Sagna.

The Gunners spent around £160million last summer on rebuilding their squad, with the new recruits helping them launch a challenge for the top four.

If Mikel Arteta’s side win their last two Premier League games, they will secure a return to the after a five-year absence.

The north club are expected to bring in a number of new players again this summer, with a centre-forward thought to be top of the priority list.

Both Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette are out of contract in the summer and are yet to have agreed new deals.

Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus, who Arteta coached while working as Pep Guardiola’s assistant, is said to be a target for the Gunners.

Meanwhile, Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans has been linked with a switch to Arsenal, but Sagna feels centre-back and striker are positions that should be prioritised.

‘We’re talking about quality players here so of course they can have an impact on the team,’ the former Gunners full-back told , via.

‘Whether they are necessary or not is another question. I’d say the most important position is the striker.

‘Lacazette is coming to the end of his contract,  already have quality midfield players and [Mohamed] Elneny who’s doing really well.

‘So, I’m not sure whether they should cover more of the midfield position, we’ve got [Thomas] Partey too and he’s important.

‘In my mind they should focus on signing a centre-back and a striker. We have [Granit] Xhaka who can play out from the back but that’s only ever going to be a temporary solution in the event of injuries or suspensions.

‘Signing a top centre-back is something they need to do this summer transfer window.’
