Barcelona respond to Manchester United asking price for Mason Greenwood

Barcelona have told they will not meet their €60 million (£51.3m) asking price for , according to reports in .

Greenwood joined Getafe on loan after United allowed the 22-year-old to leave Old Trafford in the final hour of last ’s transfer window.

The forward has not played for United since his arrest in January 2022 for .

and United had considered reintegrating him back into Erik ten Hag’s squad 

Earlier this week, United’s football director, John Murtough, and head of director of football negotiations, Matt Hargreaves, met with Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, and two CAA Base agents, Frank Tramboli and Fede Massai, in Barcelona.

According to , United held talks over a potential deal for Greenwood and wanted to gauge Barcelona’s interest.

However, the report claims that Barcelona have made it clear that they will not meet United’s valuation, with the Premier League seeking a fee between €40m (£34.2m) and €60m (£51.3m).

It’s understood that United’s asking price is outside of Barcelona’s budget, though the Spanish champions have been keeping tabs on Greenwood’s progress at Getafe.
