Bayern Munich explain Julian Nagelsmann sacking as Thomas Tuchel appointment is confirmed

have released a statement explaining why they sacked Julian Nagelsmann – with officially announced as his replacement.

On Thursday, it was reported that Bayern had made the shock decision to part ways with Nagelsmann, with former manager Tuchel lined up to takeover at the Allianz Arena.

This call was incredibly surprising given that the German giants are still in contention to complete a treble this season, with the side in both the quarter-finals for the domestic cup and the .

They are one point behind Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga table with just nine games to go, but are still expected to pip their arch-rivals to the title.

It has been suggested that the as well as the lack of development of young stars like Jamal Musiala.

And that has now been more or less confirmed, with Bayern confirming the news on Friday, with a statement from CEO Oliver Kahn reading: ‘We were convinced we would work with him [Nagelsmann] on a long-term basis – and that was the goal of all of us right up to the end.

‘Julian shares our aspiration to play successful and attractive football. But now we have come to the conclusion that the quality in our squad – despite the Bundesliga title last year – has come to the fore less and less often.

‘After the World Cup we have played less successfully and less attractively. The big fluctuations in performance have cast doubt on our goals for this season, but also our goals for the future.

‘That is why we have acted now. Personally and on behalf of FC Bayern, I would like to thank Julian and his coaching team, and wish everyone the best of luck for the future.’

35-year-old Nagelsmann is still considered to be one of the best managers in the world and has now been who are looking for a replacement for Antonio Conte.

Spurs had been interested in Tuchel who had been out of work since getting shockingly sacked by Chelsea last September.
