Ben Chilwell is due to sign a new contract at that will keep him at the club until 2027, despite interest from champions .

The 26-year-old has suffered injuries this season, most notably a hamstring problem which saw him miss the with England, but has impressed when he has been on the field for Chelsea.

The left-back has made 19 Premier League appearances this season and it was something of a surprise that he wasn’t in the starting XI when the Blues went to Wolves on Saturday in Frank Lampard’s first game back in charge of the team.

However, the club clearly value Chilwell, with reporting that he is to sign a new deal which will extend his stay at Stamford Bridge by two years.

His current contract runs until 2025 but he is set to sign a new deal which will run until 2027 and ward off any interest in his services.

Manchester City are thought to be keen on Chilwell as they need a new left-back after the departures of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Joao Cancelo.

Signing a new contract will likely end any chance City have of signing the England international, with Chilwell committing his future to the Blues.

Lampard watched his side lose 1-0 at Wolves in his first game as interim manager and now takes Chelsea to Real Madrid on Wednesday in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.

Previous manager Graham Potter got them into the last eight by knocking out Borussia Dortmund but after four games without a win and a change in the dugout, the Blues face an enormous task against the Spanish giants.
