Bernardo Silva has informed his agent he wishes to leave to join this summer but the Catalan giants will likely have to sell Frenkie de Jong to finance the move.
Silva is firmly on Barcelona’s radar with Xavi keen to bring him to the Camp Nou as part of his rebuild.
is eager to keep the Portugal international at the Etihad Stadium but has insisted he will not keep hold of a player who wishes to move elsewhere.
‘As of today, in my opinion, I think Bernardo Silva will continue with Manchester City next season. Our goal, as a club, is for him to stay with us,’ Guardiola said last month.
‘This is our intention, although I don’t like to keep players at City that are unhappy.’
According to , Silva is now taking steps to make sure the move happens and has told his agent Jorge Mendes he wants to be a Barcelona player next season.
Silva is contracted to City until 2025 with the Premier League champions setting their asking price at a huge €100m.
Barcelona hope to bring that down to €60m but the report adds the move could be dependent on de Jong’s future.
Manchester United remain in talks with Barcelona over a deal to sign the Netherlands international and were thought to be closing in on a £68m agreement.
And if cash is not raised through the sale of de Jong, SPORT add Barcelona will unlikely to be able to fund a move for Silva this summer.
Barcelona meanwhile also hope to sign Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich.
