Borussia Dortmund chief Sebastian Kehl believes that the proposed transfer of to should be cleared up by next week.

Last month, it was reported that City had agreed terms with Haaland’s representatives and will trigger the Dortmund striker’s £63million release clause ahead of a summer transfer.

However, it was claimed that the release clause had to be activated before April 30, and as of the time of writing there has been no official announcement from any party regarding the status of the transfer.

It is believed that the sudden death of Haaland’s agent , who passed away on the day of the aforementioned deadline, may have affected proceedings.

Now Kehl, who will take over as Dortmund’s sporting director this summer, has provided an update on the transfer saga, telling Sport1: ‘I know what is in the contract, we are bound by the exit clause.

‘We have tried in the last few months to reach a decision on Erling’s future. But then came the death of Mino Raiola.

‘Unfortunately, the issue has dragged on a bit. But I think we will have clarity in the next week.’

Haaland joined Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020, and the 21-year-old is now considered one of the best strikers in world football, having scored 85 goals in 88 games for the Bundesliga club.

Unsurprisingly, the Norway International became incredibly sought after, with City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid heavily linked to signing the prolific frontman.

But ultimately it appears that the Citizens have won the race for Haaland, who will be viewed as the long-term successor to the club’s all-time top goalscorer Sergio Aguero, with current City forward Gabriel Jesus linked with a move away.
