Former goalkeeper Brad Friedel has urged or to sign New Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, insisting he is already good enough to start for both clubs.

The Serbia international was drafted in to replace Matt Turner following his move to Arsenal last year and is already regarded as the best goalkeeper in the MLS.

Reports suggest Revolution value him at £24million with a host of European clubs credited with interest.

Friedel believes the 23-year-old is already to make the switch to England and is ready to become no1 at Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge.

‘I think Djordje Petrovic should be on the radar of Premier League clubs,’ the former Blackburn and Tottenham shot stopper told .

‘He could start right now for pretty much any team in Europe, although he has a learning curve of course.

‘From what I have seen of him, there has been no better goalkeeper in MLS for a long time.

He continued: ‘I think Petrovic is good enough to start for Man Utd and Chelsea.

‘People are talking about Man Utd’s goalkeeper situation a lot, but I’m not sure they have the budget right now for the keepers being mentioned in the papers.’

United are hoping to sign a new goalkeeper this summer with David de Gea’s contract set to expire at the end of June –

The club are in talks with Inter Milan over a £43million move for Andre Onana with the Cameroon international now believed to be United’s first choice option to replace de Gea.

Chelsea meanwhile also remain linked with a new goalkeeper although recent reports suggest Kepa Arrizabalaga has been given reassurances he will start the season as Mauricio Pochettino’s no1.
