made a late dash to sign star on deadline day.

News of Christian Eriksen’s injury, which could sideline the Dane for up to four month, was a huge blow to Erik ten Hag’s bid for silverware this season.

The former Tottenham star has been in sensational form for the Red Devils this season following his free transfer to Old Trafford last July.

With out for the remainder of the season and Scott McTominay sidelined for the next fortnight, United were down to just Casemiro and Fred as recognised central midfielders in the first team squad.

But United supporters that had hoped to see the midfielder in action against Nottingham Forest will have to wait a little longer to see their new man in action.

United registered Sabitzer too late on Tuesday night for the Austrian to feature against Forest and he’ll have to wait until Saturday’s Premier League game against Crystal Palace to feature.

The Red Devils have a healthy three-goal lead going into tonight’s second leg semi-final clash against Forest.

Ten Hag, though, is unlikely to rotate his side too much with the Dutchman keen to avoid any unlikely upsets.
