Charlie Adam has urged to make a shock move for defender Kyle Walker this summer.
Walker has made more than 250 appearances for Man City, helping the club win five titles, four League Cups, two FA Cups and the .
The 33-year-old was a key member of Man City’s treble-winning squad last season – playing 39 games in all competitions – but has been .
Walker is , but ex-Liverpool midfielder Adam believes his former club should make a move.
The former Scotland star says Walker could emerge as the perfect target if Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp persists with natural full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield.
‘I think playing Trent in midfield is something Liverpool might want to look at next season,’ Adam told .
‘He’s having a big impact on matches, as we saw for England this week, and I think he’s the best passer at the football club in terms of his range and what types of passes he can play.
‘If you can get that from a central position, then it opens up everything for everybody else. But if they’re looking to do that, then they’d need to bring another right back in.
‘It looks like Kyle Walker is possibly going to leave Manchester City – that’s someone for me who they could try and have a look at. They’ll need to bring a right back in if they persist with Trent in midfield.
‘I’d expect them to have at least one more midfielder in the building this window too, but until the deal is done, you can only speculate.
‘They’ve been linked with so many; it depends what Jurgen Klopp finds. They’ve still got the likes of Fabinho, Thiago, Jordan Henderson, Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones who can play there so have a few options.’
Liverpool intend to bolster Klopp’s squad this summer after an underwhelming season in which they finished fifth and failed to qualify for the Champions League.
The Reds made Argentina World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister their first signing of the summer and Adam expects the former Brighton star to thrive at Anfield.
He added: ‘I think it’s a brilliant signing. He’s someone who’s come into the Premier League and done really well over the last few years.
‘He’s obviously been noticed because of his performances at the World Cup for Argentina, but what I like about him is that he scored around 10 goals last year, which nobody really talks about.
‘He’s someone who wants to get on the ball and likes to play, he can operate in tight spaces and can see a pass.
‘For the value of what they got him for, I think it’s great business from Liverpool, and I expect them to possibly bring in more midfielders as well.
‘The good thing is that he has experience of the Premier League, so it means they won’t have to build him up – he’ll be ready to play at Liverpool from the go. He can handle it – he played for Argentina, which is a big nation with big players.
‘It’s a good transfer because they’ve got it done early, and I expect him to take his game to the next level now that he’s playing with some of the best players in English football.’
