boss has blamed his team’s poor away form on ‘personality and character’ after they lost 4-1 at Liverpool on Wednesday.
The Blues have tasted defeat in five of their last six away games in what is a concerning statistic for the Argentine head coach.
Pochettino was asked to explain Chelsea’s struggles on the road in his post-match press conference .
‘I think it’s part of our personality and character,’ the 51-year-old said. ‘We need to be more confident in ourselves.
‘Now we are improving at home. Last season, that was a big problem. Now we need to feel more confidence away from home.
‘That is about confidence and trust. We need to have the capacity to have the same performance away from home. It’s a matter of time.’
Pochettino has also warned his players that it will be the ‘same result’ at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final next month when the sides meet again unless his team make improvements.
‘For sure, it is going to be different in a neutral place,’ Pochettino added.
‘Of course, that is the feeling. It’s good because we want to compete. And if we compete in the same way as today, it will be the same result.
‘If we don’t improve, then it’s going to be difficult. For us, it’s about to learn in this kind of game. We were competing against a team that is at the top. It is good for us to feel we need to improve.’
