Chelsea close to agreement with Frank Lampard for former manager to return on interim basis

Reports suggest a deal could be done in time for the club’s all-time top goal scorer to be back in the dugout for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Wolves.

According to , an agreement that would see Lampard return to Stamford Bridge for a second time as a manager is close.

Chelsea are looking for their third permanent coach of the season following Graham Potter’s departure on Sunday night.

The German is said to be ready to take over immediately at Stamford Bridge but former Barcelona and Spain boss Luis Enrique is also in the running,

The Blues will not rush the process however with Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali committed to carrying out a thorough process before naming a long-term option.

Their Champions League campaign is still alive however, paired with defending Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.

The Blues head to the Spanish capital for the first leg next Wednesday before Carlo Ancelotti’s side come to the capital on 18 April.
