have not been put off their pursuit of star Wesley Fofana after the Foxes set an asking price of £80million for the defender.
The Blues have identified the Frenchman as a priority target after Jules Kounde opted to join .
The Foxes are yet to make a single signing this summer and Kasper Schmeichel is set to join Ligue 1 side Nice, while there’s interest in James Maddison from .
Youri Tielemans has also intimated he wants to leave the club and will not sign an extension to his current deal, which expires in 12 months’ time.
Brendan Rodgers has made it clear how unhappy he is with the club’s work so far this summer and the Foxes have attempted to fend off interest from Chelsea by asking for a record-equalling £80m fee for Fofana.
The figure would match the fee Manchester United paid for Harry Maguire in 2019, when they made the England ace the most expensive defender in world football.
However, TalkSPORT report that Chelsea have not been put off by Leicester’s asking price and that the Blues remain intent on signing the Frenchman.
Chelsea will look to raise funds by selling the likes of Marcos Alonso, Ross Barkley and Armando Broja, while Cesar Azpilicueta and Hakim Ziyech could also leave.
The Blues could offer some unwanted players in a part-exchange with Leicester in order to lower the overall fee for Fofana but it’s unclear if Rodgers holds an interest in any Chelsea players.
Fofana signed a new five-year deal with the Midlands club last season, putting Leicester in a strong position in negotiations.
Tuchel is keen to sign a right-back and another forward before the window closes, with Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries a target.
