Liverpool’s style of play will ‘suit’ Chelsea and ’s side have a ‘real chance’ of beating the Reds in the EFL Cup final.
That’s according to legend , who feels Chelsea’s performance against on Saturday has changed the complexion of the game at Wembley.
Pochettino’s side earned a deserved draw at the Etihad, following on from a spirited 3-1 win against Crystal Palace on Monday night.
While Liverpool remain top of their league after a 4-1 win against Brentford on Saturday, the win in west London came at a price.
The Reds lost Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones during the victory, while Alisson Becker and Trent Alexander-Arnold are already out.
And Neville thinks the weekend’s fixtures have played out well for Chelsea, who have a ‘real chance’ of winning at Wembley.
‘I think it’s game on,’ Neville told SkySports.
‘Liverpool fans, Liverpool players, Liverpool coaches will belooking at that performance not just yesterday but they’ll think that they have players that can step up and deliver. It’s a big game for Chelsea but it’s a big game for Liverpool.
‘Nunez went off at half-time yesterday, Jota went off as well and Jones. when Nunez goes off, when Jota goes off, when isn’t playing, they’re a little weaker than they would like to be. will be thinking ‘how many injuries am I going to get?’.
‘Liverpool are favourites next week, let’s be clear. But Chelsea have a real chance. What they showed yesterday is that when a team push up the pitch – which Liverpool do – they can counter-attack and be really dangerous. I think it suits Chelsea. Jackson needs space to run into, Sterling needs space to run into, Palmer likes to deliver passes into space. I think Chelsea find it harder like they did against the other night that sit with ten on the sge of the box.
‘I think it’s game on. I’m really looking forward to it. Liverpool will know they’re in for a game.’
