owners BlueCo have received an angry letter from RC Strasbourg supporter group Ultra Boys 90, who have demanded an emergency meeting.
The consortium led by , Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjorg Wyss took control of Chelsea in May 2022, replacing Roman Abramovich.
But the west Londoners are not the only European side owned by BlueCo after they became majority shareholders of French club Strasbourg last year.
Strasbourg fans have made no secret of their opposition to BlueCo but are growing increasingly frustrated over the club’s new transfer policy.
BlueCo have mirrored what they did at Chelsea – replacing many of Strasbourg’s veterans and experienced stars – and instead putting their faith in young players.
Top scorer Habib Diallo, star midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and captain Matz Sels have all departed while BlueCo have spent big on bringing youngsters to Strasbourg such as Abakar Sylla, Emanuel Emegha and Dilane Bakwa.
BlueCo also decided to loan out two Chelsea teenagers to the Ligue 1 side including Andrey Santos and Angelo Gabriel – but Strasbourg are largely struggling in the French top-flight and currently find themselves 12th in the table.
RC Strasbourg supporter group Ultra Boys 90 have now released a statement which reads: ”They want to meet you’ – was how Marc Keller put it when he announced the sale of the club last June.
‘Months went by and, despite our reminders, none of BlueCo’s shareholders came to see us. Out of respect for Marc Keller, his work for the club over the last twelve years, and above all his confidence in the new owners, we waited.
‘By the end of January, our patience had run out and we asked for a final meeting with the shareholders, to be held no later than the end of February.
‘Here we are in March and we still haven’t seen anyone. So it’s time to take stock of this new page in the history of Racing.
‘Racing is now nothing more than a financial asset, owned by an investment fund that already owns another football club. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: Multiclub is killing football, and we’ll fight it!
‘Two transfer windows have also come and gone, and all we can do is watch helplessly as our club is stripped of all its experienced players. In favour of young up-and-coming players.
‘It is now clear that BlueCo requires the recruitment of players aged 23 years or less.
‘We’re not fooled! No professional club can be competitive under these conditions.
‘Without balanced recruitment, the tens of millions invested in these young players will not serve Racing but only the interests of the new owners.
‘That’s why we’re asking: what is BlueCo’s real plan for Racing?
‘With all his experience and past successes at the club, how can Marc Keller endorse such a senseless sporting policy without saying a word?
‘Although the end of the season promises to be tricky from a sporting point of view, we would nevertheless like to assure the team of our full support in their bid to stay up, on the sole condition that the players honour our shirt.’
