have no intention of sacking in the near future as they plan to give him plenty of time in charge of the first team, partly inspired by Mikel Arteta’s success at Arsenal.

Potter made a bright start to life as Blues boss when he arrived from Brighton earlier this season but things have not been going so well since.

In their last 13 matches in all competitions Chelsea have won just twice, with their last three games ending in draws and just one goal scored in those three contests.

Sitting ninth in the Premier League, there is obviously a lot of pressure on Potter to improve on this run of results, but he is not in any immediate danger of losing his job.

report that the Chelsea hierarchy are planning to stick with Potter for the foreseeable future, certainly making no plans to replace him this season.

The 47-year-old signed a five-year contract when he arrived from Brighton, and while there is no guarantee he will see that out, it will not be torn up before the end of this campaign.

The report states that Potter’s bosses are well aware that he is having to incorporate a large number of new signings, while he has also been very unlucky with injuries this season.

The Chelsea chiefs have also cast an eye across London to the Emirates where Mikel Arteta had a pretty underwhelming start to life as Arsenal boss but was afforded time and has turned things round pretty spectacularly.

The Spaniard had a young side, was given the chance to make the changes he wanted and now, just over three years after taking charge, the Gunners are top of the Premier League table.

Potter may have the backing of his bosses, but he still needs to improve on results and that starts with a trip to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League last 16 on Wednesday night.
