boss revealed that is facing a race to be fit for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.

Silva was forced off just after the hour-mark in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over last week, with Levi Colwill coming on in the Brazilian’s place at Selhurst Park.

The veteran defender missed the Blues’ 1-1 draw with Manchester City due to a groin injury and still remains a doubt for Sunday’s final at Wembley.

Asked for an update on Silva’s fitness on Friday, Pochettino said: ‘He has a chance. Tomorrow, we will see.’

Pressed on any further injury news, the Argentine replied: ‘ I think we need to assess to see whether they can be involved on Sunday.

‘I will communicate tomorrow if we recovered players from training.’

With Benoit Badiashile set to miss the final, Colwill and Axel Disasi are likely to partner up in central defence.

Trevor Chalobah could also be in contention for a starting spot having played his first minutes of the season against City last weekend.

Elsewhere, Pochettino remains without the likes of Reece James, Romeo Lavia, Marc Cucarella and Wesley Fofana – who are sidelined with longer-term issues.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have been rocked by injuries, with assistant manager Pep Lijnders confirming Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai

Chelsea have been dealt their fair share of injury woes throughout the season and Pochettino was keen to empathise with Jurgen Klopp’s predicament.

‘I never like to see the opponent suffer with injured players and of course, we emphasise, we understand because we were dealing from the beginning,’ he said.

‘If you suffer some injuries in the middle [of the season] when the dynamic is positive, you can manage and find a solution that can work easy. If it’s from the beginning [of the season], you’re always behind – it’s like trying to chase a rabbit.’
