are lining up a summer move for AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli who is out of contract at the end of the season, but so are other big clubs across Europe.

The 27-year-old has been with Milan since 2015 and a regular in the first team at centre-back since then.

The Italy international is on the verge of his first league title, with AC Milan two points clear at the top of Serie A going into the final day of the season, but he looks set to leave the club when the campaign comes to an end.

He has been offered a new contract but has not accepted it and big clubs are looking to snap up the experienced defender on a free transfer.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo report that Chelsea are one of those clubs keen on signing Romagnoli, with the Blues in need of a defensive revamp over the summer.

Chelsea are losing both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen at the end of the season when their contracts at Stamford Bridge expire, so two new centre-backs are on Thomas Tuchel’s summer shopping list.

The report from Spain also states that Bayern Munich, Sevilla and Barcelona are all keen on the Italian and will challenge Chelsea for his signature.

Romagnoli had previously been linked with a switch to Lazio, but talk of that move across Serie A has cooled in recent months and he looks likely to take on a new league for the first time in his career.

With Rudiger and Christensen on the way out of Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel will only have Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr as centre-back options.

Tuchel may well be able to offer Ramagnoli regular first team football in the Champions League which is less certain elsewhere.
